Stephanie Metz is a classically trained sculptor currently working in felted wool. Her work demonstrates an interest in natural history and the different ways people manifest systems of these histories. She is particularly drawn to overly domesticated creatures, especially those whose form has overgrown their function. Metz has a BFA in sculpture from the University of Oregon.

At the time of her residency, Metz made her home with her husband, two sons, and dog Peekay in San José, California.
